Hi there frisbee folk!
This is an attempt at a frisbee blog and, I believe, the first in the known-world. Not just about ultimate or disc golf, this will cover all aspects of mans-greatest invention.
It will be primarily based on UK but anything frisbee-related cannot ignore the US.
Four sentences in and already the use of the word frisbee three times. Many people in the frisbee-world are ashamed of the word. We are not, we embrace it and we are reclaiming it back. It may be trademarked by Wham-O (or whichever company has taken them over) but it is our word.
If you are interested in penning a piece about anything frisbee-related just drop me a line. I would like to offer you wealth beyond your wildest dreams and glamour – unfortunately I offer nothing but glory!
Why is it called ‘When a ball dreams …’ I hear you ask? This is the start of a quote from Dr Stancil Johnson in his fabulous 1970s book ‘Frisbee’. If you can get hold of a copy, do so. History, fantastic photos, technique and a whole chapter devoted to the nine characteristics of the flight of a frisbee (whelm, wedge, well, wax, waft, wane, waste, warp and was, in case you are interested). The quote just sums up everything that’s right and proper about the Frisbee: “when a ball dreams, it dreams it’s a frisbee”
